Physiotherapy for children looks quite different from adult sessions. The goals are the same — better movement, strength and confidence — but the approach is built around a child’s world: play, encouragement and patience.
What a pediatric session looks like
Sessions are kept gentle, playful and age-appropriate. Exercises are often disguised as games, and parents are encouraged to stay involved throughout, since consistency at home between visits makes a real difference to progress.
Milestones worth mentioning to a physiotherapist
- Delayed sitting, crawling or walking compared to typical timelines
- Noticeably uneven or asymmetrical movement patterns
- Frequent clumsiness, tripping or difficulty with coordination
- Postural concerns noticed by a parent, teacher or pediatrician
- Recovery needs after an injury, cast removal or surgery
None of these on their own necessarily mean something is wrong — children develop at different rates — but they are worth an assessment if a parent feels something is not quite tracking as expected.
Parents are part of the team
You know your child best. We talk parents through what we are working on and why, and give simple, practical activities to continue at home, so progress does not stop between appointments.
